Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited ("Temasek") and Minh Phu Seafood Joint-Stock Company ("Minh Phu") today announced Temasek's acquisition of a 10 per cent stake in Minh Phu. This investment represents Temasek's confidence in the growth potential of Vietnam's aquaculture export industry.

Minh Phu is Vietnam's largest shrimp processor and exporter by both volume and value. The company, listed on the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre, currently exports to markets throughout the world including US, Japan, Canada, EU and Australia.

"We consider Minh Phu Seafood to be an emerging champion and it is well-positioned to capitalise on the tremendous growth potential of one of Vietnam's key export sectors - the thriving aquaculture industry. Vietnam is the third-largest shrimp producer in the world after China and Thailand. The industry has grown by more than 15 per cent per annum on average over the last 10 years and is considered one of the fastest-growing sectors of Vietnam's export industry.
