Temasek Holdings is pleased to announce that Ms Cheo Hock Kuan, Mr Charles Ong and Mr Tow Heng Tan will be joining the company as Managing Directors. Mr Jimmy Phoon, currently Managing Director, Corporate Stewardship, will take on additional responsibilities.

Cheo Hock Kuan

2. Ms Cheo Hock Kuan, 47, will join Temasek on 1 Aug 02 as Managing Director, Organisation Development & Corporate Services. She will be responsible for human resources, legal services, company secretariat, corporate communications and administration.
3. Ms Cheo started her career as a military officer with the Ministry of Defence looking after HR, and later, at the Public Service Division at the Prime Minister's Office. She spent her last 7 years with the Singapore Technologies Group as the Director of Executive Resource and Corporate HR.

Charles Ong

4. Mr Charles Ong, 33, will join Temasek Holdings on 15 Aug 02 as Managing Director, Strategic Development (Global Hub). Mr Ong will be responsible for international investments opportunities, and strategic initiatives for global hub or networking in transport & logistics, infrastructure, manufacturing and engineering.
5. Mr Ong started his career as an investment banker with Lazard Freres & Co., New York, and also helped start Lazard's Asian operations in Singapore. He later joined Deutsche Bank as Head of M&A, ex-Japan Asia, and is currently the Head of Corporate Finance, South East Asia for Deutsche Bank.

Tow Heng Tan

6. Mr Tow Heng Tan, 46, will join Temasek Holdings on 1 Sep 02. He will assume the position of Managing Director, Strategic Development (ASEAN/KBB/PLE), covering ASEAN investments and development initiatives for knowledge-based businesses (KBBs) and promising local enterprises (PLEs). KBBs include those with exportable knowledge and content in intellectual property, technology, brand, marketing or distribution.
7. Mr Tow started his career with the then Coopers & Lybrand. He was later an investment banker with Schroders Singapore, and Managing Director of Lum Chang Securities. He is currently Senior Director of DBS Vickers, after Lum Chang Securities was folded into Vickers Ballas, which then merged with DBS Securities to form DBS Vickers.

Jimmy Phoon

8. Mr Jimmy Phoon, 39, will take on the concurrent appointment of Managing Director, Strategic Development (Asia/Services), with immediate effect. He will be responsible for Asian investments and strategic opportunities for regional services in banking & finance, telecommunications, health, education and utilities.
9. Mr Jimmy Phoon began his career in the Ministry of Finance. He subsequently joined Standard Chartered Merchant Bank Asia, where he served for 7 years and was Executive Director before joining Temasek in 1999. Currently, he is a Managing Director of Corporate Stewardship in Temasek Holdings.
