Dear Dr Ong,

On 15 Oct 2010, we wrote to you to request that, if you are the owner of the temasekreview.com website, to stop using the good name of Temasek Review and to change the name of the website.

You wrote to us on 15 Oct 2010 stating that you have been a past contributor to the website, but have nothing to do whatsoever with the ownership or management of the website. You also asked that we direct our request to the owner/s of the website.

We note from The New Paper report that the website reported your interview with their journalist in detail soon after the event, and that you must be able to reach the owner/s and/or managers of the website. Accordingly, we enclose a letter addressed to the owner/s of the website, and request that you kindly forward it to the owner/s of the website for their action.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dear Sir/Madam,

We refer to the 9 October 2010 edition of The New Paper on the so-called "Temasek Review" website.

On 15 Oct 2010, we wrote to Dr. Joseph Ong on the matter. Dr. Ong replied he has nothing to do whatsoever with the website, and asked that we write to you instead. Accordingly, we have asked Dr. Ong to send this letter to you.

The purpose of this letter is to request that you, as the owner/s of the website and/or domain name/s, stop using the good name of "Temasek Review" and that the name be changed.

As is well known, Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited ("Temasek") has been using the name "Temasek Review" for our annual performance review reports since 2004. Electronic versions of the Temasek Review reports also appear on our company website. The Temasek Review is meant for Temasek to share and review our performance annually with our Singapore as well as international stakeholders. The name "Temasek Review" has become well known and is indisputably associated with Temasek.

It also appears from the report that sometime in 2009, a decision was made to change the name of the website from "The Wayang Party" to the "The Temasek Review".

According to the website, its aim is "To provide space for columnists and reader comments from across the political spectrum to foster, facilitate and promote serious debate and discourse ...." and to provide "coverage on socio-political affairs of Singapore."

However, it appears that this has been done by capitalizing on the good will and reputation of our "Temasek Review" for the website in place of its original name. This is misleading and irresponsible.

The website also claims that its editorial position is based, among other things, “on the principles of transparency, accountability and responsibility...".

It should live up to its own words and do the responsible thing to change the name of the website and/or domain name, and not misuse "Temasek Review" for your purpose.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Goh Yong Siang
