Temasek Announces Changes In Senior Appointments

Greg Curl and Dilhan Pillay to join Temasek on 1 Sep 2010

Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited (“Temasek”) is pleased to confirm the following changes in its leadership team.

Mr Hsieh Fu Hua has joined Temasek as Executive Director and President with effect from 1 August 2010, and Mr Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara will join Temasek as Head, Portfolio Management with effect from 1 September 2010.

Currently Executive Director, Mr Simon Israel will assume the role of Executive Director and President, while Mr Gregory Curl will join Temasek as President. Both appointments will take effect from 1 September 2010.

Hsieh Fu Hua, Simon Israel and Greg Curl will work in close partnership with Temasek CEO Ho Ching to support the Temasek senior leadership team to build a sustainable institution that creates and delivers long term shareholder value.

Hsieh Fu Hua, 60, oversees Temasek’s institutional and capacity building initiatives, including the company’s platform for leadership and talent development, as well as risk management.

Simon Israel, 57, provides leadership in building and enhancing value creation in Temasek’s Singapore investments, as well as oversees its engagement with Australia and New Zealand markets, in his concurrent role as Head Singapore and Head Australia/New Zealand.

Greg Curl, 62, will oversee Temasek’s interests in financial services, and support its strategic engagement in the Americas. Greg retired from Bank of America in March this year, where he was credited to be “a principal architect of one of the world’s premier financial services franchises”, and brings with him 34 years of banking and international M&A experience.

In addition to his role as Head of Portfolio Management, Dilhan Pillay, 47, will also take on the role of co-Head Singapore to support Simon Israel along with the senior leadership team.

More on Hsieh Fu Hua (谢福华)

Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, 60, joined Temasek as a Director on 1 February 2010 and was appointed Executive Director and President from 1 August 2010.

Fu Hua served as Chief Executive Officer and a non-independent director of the Singapore Exchange Limited (“SGX”) from March 2003 to November 2009. Prior to his role at the SGX, Fu Hua co-founded PrimePartners, a corporate advisory firm based in Singapore and served as the Group Managing Director of BNP Prime Peregrine Group, the Asian investment banking arm of BNP (a joint venture with PrimePartners). Before forming PrimePartners in 1993, he headed Morgan Grenfell Asia Holdings Pte Ltd which he joined in 1974.

He is a member of the board of National University of Singapore Board of Trustees and the National Arts Council. Fu Hua graduated from the University of Singapore in Business Administration in 1974.

More on Simon Israel (伊盛盟)

Mr Simon Israel, 57, joined Temasek as a Director in August 2005, and was appointed Executive Director in July 2006. He will be appointed Executive Director and President with effect from 1 September 2010, and also holds the concurrent role as Head, Singapore, and Head, Australia/New Zealand.

Simon was previously a senior member of the Danone Group for 10 years, as Chairman Asia Pacific and as a member of the Danone Group’s Executive Committee. Prior to the Danone Group, Simon enjoyed a 22-year career with Sara Lee Corporation across the Asia Pacific region progressing to Head (Household & Personal Care) of Asia Pacific.

Simon chairs the Singapore Tourism Board, and is Chairman of Asia Pacific Breweries Limited and Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation. He is also a Member of the Board of Singapore Telecommunications Limited, NOL, and CapitaLand.

Simon holds a Diploma of Business Studies from The University of the South Pacific. He was conferred Knight in the Legion of Honour by the French Government in 2007.

More on Gregory Curl (科尔)

Mr Gregory L. Curl, 62, will be appointed President, Temasek with effect from 1 September 2010.

Greg retired from Bank of America (BoA) in March this year after a banking career of over 30 years, including his stint with Boatmen’s Bancshares and NationsBank (which acquired Bank of America, and took on the Bank of America name). He helped engineer the Bank's major strategic initiatives and acquisitions over the years such as its investment into China Construction Bank in 2005. He has served in a number of senior executive capacities including Vice Chairman of Corporate Development, and last held the position of Chief Risk Officer, where he positioned the Bank for strength, stability and soundness, as he worked with the bank’s lines of business to identify and navigate credit, market and operational risk to enable predictable, sustainable growth by the corporation.

Apart from his career in banking, Greg has also served as a special assistant (1976-1978) to US Senator John Danforth, and as a naval officer (1970-1974) in the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Gregory received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Southwest Missouri State University and a Master’s degree in Government from the University of Virginia. He was named a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in 1970 and was a Philip Dupont Scholar and a McIntire Fellow at the University of Virginia. Gregory is a director of the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholars Foundation and was on the board of The Enstar Group, Inc., Grupo Financiero Santander Serfin, and China Construction Bank.

More on Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara (狄澜)

Mr Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara, 47, will join Temasek as Senior Managing Director with effect from 1 September 2010, and will also hold concurrent appointments as Head Portfolio Management and Co-Head Singapore.

Currently the Managing Partner of WongPartnership LLP, Dilhan has over 20 years of experience in the legal services sector in Singapore and the region, especially in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions, corporate governance and general corporate law.

A trustee of the Singapore Management University and the Singapore Institute of Technology, Dilhan also serves as a member of the Corporate Governance Council established by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as well as on the boards of a number of other private and publicly listed companies.

Dilhan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and attended Cambridge University on a Cambridge ODA Scholarship, where he obtained a Master of Law.
