Singapore’s latest state-of-the art National Stadium played host to Our People, Our Music 2014 (OPOM): My Home- Singapore! 

The breath-taking mega event saw the participation of 4,557 talented performers from Chinese orchestras, choirs and ensembles across the island. The assembly of various different musical instruments, and the attendance of 30,000 Singaporeans on 28 June 2014, brought home an early birthday present for Singapore, two Guinness World Records. One for the largest Chinese Orchestra and the other for the largest Drum Ensemble. 

The orchestra was led by Maestro Tsung Yeh and together they impressed the crowd with tunes composed by Richard Strauss, Theresa Teng and Wu Si Man Jiang. Throughout the night, the excited crowd was also kept entertained by Vincent Ng, Singapore’s Wushu Champion, as he wowed them with his martial arts skills, and Dick Lee, who gracefully performed his original composition of “Home”. 

After months of grueling efforts and countless rehearsals, the OPOM may have come to an end. However, the contribution of thousands will forever be recognised.
