About Ms Susan Wagner
Ms Wagner is a co-founder and Director of BlackRock, one of the world’s leading asset management firms, where she served as Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer and was a member of the Global Executive and Operating Committees. During her 25-year executive career with the company, Ms Wagner led strategy and corporate development, and coordinated the firm’s strategic initiatives, including BlackRock's mergers with PNC, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, and Barclays Global Investors; joint ventures in Japan, China, and India; the firm’s initial public offering and the launch of the company’s technology business. Ms Wagner also started and ran the alternative investments and international client businesses. Ms Wagner began her career at Lehman Brothers.
Ms Wagner currently serves on the Boards of BlackRock, Apple, and Color Health. Her previous board appointments include Samsara Inc., Swiss Re, and Wellesley College.
She has been widely recognised for her leadership and impact, including being named among Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” and being included on similar lists published by The Financial Times and Crain’s New York. She has also been honoured by the National Council for Research on Women and the National Association of Corporate Directors. She also received the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Finance Pioneer Award in 2023 and has been an active champion of women’s advancement through BlackRock’s Women’s Initiative Network.
Ms Wagner earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and graduated with honours from Wellesley College with a BA in English and Economics.
